Adopt a ready-made assessment template, or build your own with the Assessment Template Assistant, and publish it so assessments can use it.
An assessment template defines the questions an assessment asks, how answers classify the subject, and which risks particular answers suggest. Templates need the Manage RMS configuration permission.
Adopt a template from the catalog
Product location: /rms/settings/assessment-catalog. Open Assessment Catalog under Configuration.
Open Assessment Catalog under Configuration. The Assessment Template Catalog lists the ready-made templates available to your organisation, such as data-protection, vendor or product assessments, with their version and scope.
Choose Adopt on a template. It then appears in New Assessment. A template you have adopted shows Adopted. When a newer catalog version is available it shows Update available.
Author your own template with AI
Product location: /rms/authoring. Choose Create your own, or open Assessment Authoring under Risks.
Choose Create your own in the catalog, or open Assessment Authoring under Risks. The page has the Assessment Template Assistant on the left and a live preview on the right.
Describe the assessment you need, for example:
“Build a supplier information-security assessment for cloud vendors. Ask about data types processed, hosting location, sub-processors, certifications and incident history. Classify vendors as critical, important or standard. Suggest risks when data leaves the EU or no certification is held.”
The assistant asks follow-up questions and builds the template step by step: sections, questions and answer options. It can also attach guidance to answer options. That guidance explains what an answer implies, which risks it suggests, which standard clauses it touches and how it contributes to the classification. The risk-identification AI later uses this to propose risks from real answers.
The preview updates as the assistant works. Use Continue a draft to return to an unfinished template, and Refresh to reload the preview.
Removing a section or a question, and publishing, are two-step: the assistant describes the change and waits for your explicit agreement before doing it.
Edit the structure directly
Product location: /rms/authoring/{templateId} (fallback: /rms/authoring). Use Structure in the preview, or Open in Forms Builder.
With Quality enabled, the preview's Structure lets you Rename question, move questions up or down, Delete question or Delete section without the assistant. Open in Forms Builder opens the full form designer for field types, validation, conditions and layout; see build a form. If you lack the Quality form-editing permission, ask the assistant to make the change instead.
Publish the template
Product location: /rms/authoring/{templateId} (fallback: /rms/authoring). Resolve Before you publish, then choose Publish.
Before you publish lists what still blocks publishing, such as Add at least one question, a classification field without classification levels, or a missing classification field. It also lists recommendations, such as adding sections, option guidance or standards tags.
When no blockers remain, choose Publish and confirm. Publishing makes the template available in New Assessment and retires any older published version of the same template.
To change a published template, choose New version, edit the draft and publish it. For an adopted catalog template, Make a copy creates your own editable copy. The copy stops receiving catalog updates.
Remove a standard tag from the preview with its ×.
