Define the outcomes training can grant and organize them into taxonomies.
Create a skill
Product location: /training/skills
Open Training, then Skills & Competencies.
In Skills, select New skill.
Enter a unique Code, a meaningful Name and a description.
Choose a Taxonomy if the skill belongs to a group.
Set Default validity (days) if the competency needs recertification, and check Active.
Save the skill.
The code cannot be changed after creation. Choose an identifier that remains meaningful when the display name changes.
Grant it through a module
Product location: /training/courses/{id}/edit (fallback: /training/courses). Select the module and its skill grant.
In a course module, select Grants competency and the intended Proficiency granted. The proficiency levels are Awareness, Working, Proficient and Expert. Match the learning activity and assessment to the level you intend to award.
A skill definition is not evidence that a person holds that skill. Review a learner's earned competency records and validity dates separately.
Maintain taxonomies and inactive skills
Product location: /training/skills
Use Taxonomies to create and edit groups. Deactivating a skill hides it from new module assignments and retains existing competency records. Deactivating a taxonomy leaves its skills ungrouped; it does not delete them.
If the record changed while the editor was open, reload and inspect the latest version before retrying. Only users with skill-management permission can perform these actions.
